Obviously people like to focus on before and after the revolutionary period but wasn't there already a pre-existing decline in the population to begin with? Is there a distinction made between protestants who's ancestors have lived on this island for centuries and British-born protestants who left as the British administration left? I had discussed this with a protestant friend before who had to hand some stats from a paper looking at West Cork where the migration of military and administrative personnel was a larger factor in protestant population decline than any other in that period.
