Protesters shutdown parkway east near Churchill exit

First, the Pittsburgh sub is not a left-leaning sub. Those of us on the left are patently used to taking our downvotes any time something comes up on here that isn't another circlejerk about Lawrenceville or food trucks.

Second, I think that it's about visibility and seizing the means, right? Like I just told someone else: white people have made it their business to inconvenience black people in all sorts of ways, be it in dogwhistle or Klan rally form. Racism happens, and if you don't see it or deny it then I can only tell you to look closer. My friends have to tell their teenage kids about what to do if the cop stops you.

Most people say "Oh yeah that sucks" and then they don't do anything about it. But taking the street means that people have to confront the issue. Even if it's with anger at being inconvenienced. Everyone on the Parkway will get home safe tonight. Antwon Rose will not be going home. I'm white, and I know how lucky I am that the cops probably won't shoot me if I run from them.
