Ps4 or xbox one?

Look at the games they offer (or look at the games offered for previous systems) to figure out which one you want. Most of the big ones will be released on both, but do it just to make sure.

Instead of getting a new system when they launched, I got a PS3 to catch up on the games I missed by having a 360. I bought, played and decided that I can live without Uncharted, God of War, Infamous, Resistance, Killzone, or any of the others. I'll have to figure something out when they make a new The Last of Us game because that ended up being one of my favorites of all time.

I can definitely live without Halo (especially with 343i) and Gears of War as well, but my circle of friends is most likely to go with the Xbox One. It's a shitty way to decide (being a conformist), but it should affect your decision. I've found that playing games online alone can get pretty lame sometimes, so I like to be able to play with friends.

Xbox One is better in the non-gaming apps category, but PS4 is a better choice for hardware. Also look at the Playstation Plus and Xbox Live Gold rewards stuff if that makes a difference. Ultimately, you just need to do research to decide.

Another wild card: who needs to impress more? Microsoft lost a lot of ground before launch with the DRM/Kinect/Online fiasco, so I feel like they are more desperate and have more to gain by giving to the consumer right now. Just a thought, might as well throw it out there.

And just to say it: I am not loyal to any one company despite anything I have said. In the past generations I've supported the SNES, N64, PS2, and Xbox 360 out of the gate. I like what they all have to offer, I'm not some Sony/Microsoft loyalist who doesn't consider switching to the other side. I do whatever I want. I figure if a game is good enough, I'll play it eventually anyway.
