PS5 better be worth the money.

The top comment in your link is very true. I have a heavy nostalgia for the gritty nature of the PS2. It was the last of the old-school gaming systems, with the PS3 being this odd midpoint between that era and the app-focused console generation. The PS4 came out one year after the market boom for Smart TVs. There was a huge focus in the market for apps and social networking that has now become the standard for entertainment systems.

Given that the PS4 already fits into the modern entertainment system standard, I'm guessing the bigger shift will be towards hardware. It'll be hard to compete with PC gaming in that respect. Console gaming is already considered "uncool" as it is, and if Sony's only selling point is higher specs then I don't see the PS5 being all that relevant. It certainly wont be as "revolutionary" as the PS2. No use buying a mini-computer with inferior hardware/software, when you already have an actual computer.
