PSA: CRA Scam Calls???

In all sincerity, there's something you need to understand: government takes up a SHITLOAD of your time if you're a small business owner. Between CRA, Statistics Canada, Export Development Canada, WSIB, and a variety of provincial ministries, you guys collectively call us practically non-stop.

We see you all collectively as "government". Not single ministries. Not single people. "Government. And you don't ever call us with good news.

Now let me tell you another secret: when we call you, it's the most painful experience known to man. First we're left on hold for umpteem minutes, then when we get through to someone all they'll do is refer us to the legislation. No answers, no interpretations, just referrals to legislation. And in the rare case that you do offer answers, they're not binding on you in any way. So even if we have WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE from CRA, it's not considered authoritative.

I'm not going to hire a fucking lawyer every time I have a question for CRA. And I"m not going to read every technical interpretation bulletin. And I'm not going to file for a ruling. Compared to the IRS, who I also work with, you guys are much more polite, but much harder to work with.

Anyway, I could go on a crazy ass rant about CRA alone, but it will fall on deaf ears.
