PSA for kids/teens: if you complain that "there's nothing to eat" when the house is full of food, you suck.

I regularly make dinner with friends that have a 4 and 6 yo that refuse to eat dinner 75% of the time. It's always a fight even with food they like (Chicken tenders, tacos, fries, tater tots).

Last night the 6 yo threw a tantrum because he didn't want to eat his steak and fries. The 4 yo took one bite and refused to eat any more.

All they want to eat is sugar. Applesauce, candy, chocolate milk. Given the choice between eating actual food or nothing, they will choose nothing. The 6 yo has gone more than a day (with no sweets) and has still refused to eat dinner. They will literally sit at the table and whimper for hours rather than eat their food.

Any advice is welcomed.
