PSA: Ranks for Team Slayer and HCS as well as SWAT are live!

I moved here from the East coast of the mainland U.S. Obviously only move here if you have a job in hand. The cost of living is very high, food and electric are the biggest offenders with almost 50 cents per kilowatt-hours depending on the island you are on (My 1 bedroom without A/C runs me $275 a month in electric alone). I do like to remind people there are two hawaiis, the one tourists see and the one you live on. The one tourist flock to (Resorts, hotels, etc) most people think of when you mention Hawaii, not the other. Keep in mind if you do decide to move out here, you will be living in the other, which can be a wake up call if you are not prepared. Unlike the mainland where many groups of various opinions on life exist and can escape each other, its harder on a small island chain. You have pockets out here that do not welcome Americans (white people most of all), Hawaii statehood, are under extreme poverty etc and its harder to avoid these people as you are all forced together on small rocks. On the other hand, you have some of the best scenic vistas on the planet. Is it worth it to me? At this stage in my life yes, if I had other variables such as a family, or looking for a place to relocate permanently/buy a house, I would not consider Hawaii to be a good choice for quality of life at that time. Not saying hawaii is bad, its really not when you look at all the problems you see in other states, its just amplified in my opinion based on available land mass and other current social factors at play here, as each island is isolated from the others and all are 2000 miles from the mainland U.S.
