Why is PSMD better than GTI?

My opinion stands that GTI > PSMD > EoT, as you probably know. Our opinions on Explorers are quite flipped, but we can put that aside for this conversation, right? ;)

The player/partner relationship was a big concern for me, as well. I never felt like I made any decisions - my partner dragged me along, and I followed pretty much against my own will. Others will say that there were some decisions you made, like following the kids to the Foreboding Forest or choosing to skip school to save Budew, but ultimately these choices fall flat for me - the Foreboding Forest choice was pretty much forced by a giant, yellow arrow leading outward, and the Nectar Meadow choice was one your partner also made, lessening the effect.

But the root of this problem doesn't rest in the partner, for me. He was just being himself. The problem rested in the player. Not a single speaking line came out of the player at any point! Not even one line! I've had people tell me that the player did say things at some point - if anyone reading this thinks that way, I challenge you to find a quote from the game which the player says out loud, meaning it wasn't written in parenthesis. Because of this lack of talking, the player character never felt involved in anything. He was kinda just there, thinking things, of course, but only thinking things. Never saying a word, never giving any encouragement to the partner which he supposedly received, never sticking up for anyone during tough times, etc.

I'm ready for three thousand text walls to rain on me
