Psychologists Discover a Rise in “Neoliberal Perfectionism”

I don't understand this claim. We know from world history that this isn't the case.

It's pretty straightforward really. Human societies were fiercely competitive and individualistic up until around the feudal period. Individualism was the cornerstone of the enlightenment. Our country was essentially founded on competitive individualism.

No one made this claim.

The authors of this very study are blaming the "ramping up" of competitive individualism in the 1980's for a rise in so called "perfectionism", specifically in Americans.

What are you even trying to articulate here?

That the boundaries between political ideologies are porous.

What point are you trying to make?

My point is that this is a subreddit for discussing psychology, not politics. I've been temporarily banned from this sub for disagreeing with marxist theory so I 'm not going to reply to this.
