Psychologists, Therapists, Councilors etc: What are some things people tend to think are normal but should really be checked out?

Some good words of advice, but it sounds like you have a mild case. I've suffered from sleep paralysis for the past 15 years or so. I've had my nose broken so many times in competitive sports that CPAP devices don't seem to work with me since I am a mouth breather. They do make CPAP's for mouth breathers, but they are crap. That's not the only problem- I drink a fair amount of alcohol. I'm in the industry so-to-speak and earn a good salary. When I cut back on alcohol my sleep paralysis is off the charts. Coupled with the breathing problem I sometimes categorize sleep as merely "rest".

Tip 4. Don't try to talk. If you try and force out words, by the time a word comes out, you're probably going to scream it. It's very alarming to anyone around you.

Two days ago in the early morning, I was in sleep paralysis and could not escape from a weird dream and I was in some weird bed in my dream dealing with other stuff, and I started yelling "help, help, help" which I have never done before in 15 or 20 years. I live alone. I was hoping someone would hear my screams even though I know in sleep paralysis it's not real...but it is real...
