PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Be careful what you say at the border crossings

Being detained wouldn't matter in Canada, you're still not obligated to say anything to the police if detained.

Only time its advisable to speak to the police, is if they're there on your behalf (ie: report at an accident, you're a victim of a criminal offence).

Saying absolutely nothing and making a cops job difficult is not going to work in your favour, ever.

A lot of people have talked themselves into arrest and criminal charges, I deal with them quite often. If the police are interrogating you, the only advice I, or any other lawyer would give, is to say nothing. If detained, say nothing, if arrested, give your name, DOB and say nothing until you consult with an attorney.
