Public transit perverts, or why I'd rather pay $400 for parking than take the bus for free

The thing is, those aren't the only two choices. It's unfortunate that you were sexually violated on public transit, but you frame it as if it's a guarantee that every woman will be sexually violated on public transit. That is simply not true. I have taken public transit for years and have never felt sexually violated on a bus or train* - I get harassed more when I am walking on the street. My evidence is purely anecdotal, but so is yours. We shouldn't be dictating how entire transit systems operate based on individual experiences. If you don't want to take public transit, I can understand why and I support your choice to employ other methods of transportation - but that doesn't mean you should advocate to remove public transit as an option for people who need it. Besides, sexual harassment can happen anywhere; to reduce the amount of sexual violations, we should focus on the root of the issue - societal sexism - instead of trying to dictate the time and place when harassment is able to occur.
