The Purpose of Marriage

I'm familiar with the seven-year itch. And I had problems in my marriage around year four or five. But it was him withdrawing, hanging out with friends all the time. and not me. We worked it out. I stayed and waited because that is marriage for me.

I need marriage because I was raised in church and my morals and marital framework is reflected in my life. I'm an atheist now but I still agree with the Christian code of conduct and morals. I just dumped off the belief part.

I do understand evolution and see lots of people destroying their lives, from the person who murders in anger or takes a knife to a gunfight, to men and women who can't control their base desires and blow up their families, to obesity, undisciplined lives. Evolution has a hand in it all.

What you call tingles uber allies I call being "in love". However as an introvert I have always watched people and understand that "in love" is just nature's way of getting you to play its game. Nature is not benevolent but kills as easy as it births.

But as humans, we are different than the other animals because of our mental capacity. Once you realize the various ways mother nature or evolution is pulling the strings, you can use that human intellect to mitigate the trickery and plan for it.

I don't have kids and will never have any. I've been married for a little over thirty years and have never cheated. I use the Billy Graham rule because I understand evolution and have a very strong disdain for cheating.

In fact, before I married we talked about our roles. I specifically brought up DV and under what conditions he could get physical with me. Adultery or anything looking like it, flirting etc could be remedied in the way he saw fit.

The idea you mentioned of men leaving for that pack of cigarettes because he isn't bonded to his kids needs some work.

Only a man operating on minimal self-awareness and like an animal does that.

A man might step out and father kids out of wedlock leaving them that other woman's problem, but those kids born in marriage are his and belong to him and have his name. They are his legacy and proof of his existence after death. Nothing but a beta man gives up so easily what is his and walks away for another man to come in and take over his wife, his kids, his house.

Hope I addressed your points.
