Is the pursuit of FIRE just a temporary distraction from unhappiness?

I like fast-paced FPS games in the style of Quake/UT. It's difficult to talk about favourites, but I guess I would mention UT2004, Deus Ex, Half-Life 1/2, Painkiller and Cave Story. When choosing favourites I never know how much is nostalgia so maybe it's better to look at hours played:
