'Put Australian jobs first': Labor calls for migration overhaul after pandemic

And the alternative is that those jobs don't exist in the first place with migrants, and the labour shortages cause an adverse downturn in the economy. There is no evidence to show that migrants cause wages to go down for low-skilled jobs (they don't, that's just a fact) and if you looked at past case studies, places with high exposure to migrants actually saw wages increase the fastest (e.g. Bracero program). Stop using anecdotal evidence and 'word of mouth' that comes from people who have no idea of what the fuck they're talking about, I have known plenty of immigrants who come here to work and contribute to the economy and assimilate with the local population, they aren't here to take your jobs, they are here to create local jobs.
