Put the blame where it belongs

I understand your point, you're just wrong. You say that we can implement change through legislation immediately. Really? In the current political climate? That is just a lie. Liberals are spineless and conservatives are against any environmental protection in principle. And legislation takes time, months-to-years-to-decades. That is not immediate by any means. What is immediate is getting beans, veggies, and grains instead of beef. Your carbon and water and environmental impact is already reduced. Immediately.

Do I support the outlawing of meat? No. I think the only way you see lasting change is if people make the choice themselves. Presenting false information about vegetarian and vegan diets doesn't help, nor does ignoring the objective fact that these diets are better for you and the environment. And regardless of my wanting to outlaw meat or not, massive cultural changes are required as the population continues to grow. We are already overpopulated, at least if people want a "western" and American lifestyle. We literally would need multiple Earth's for that to be possible. All the space for agriculture and housing, we do not have the space for it. We are in the middle of another mass extinction, this one caused by humyns, and our large population and concomitant ecological impacts are the problem, with capitalism the root cause. It's about whether you want to do something about it, or just point out these companies on reddit and Twitter as an excuse to not look inside yourself and make a change.
