But he has to see how Trump reacts when someone betrays him: blanket denial, with the justifiable expectation of lockstep Republican support—and scorched earth retribution.

That’s what I’m scared of. Trump’s got the nuclear codes. He’s delusional. Boxed into a corner. Do we really think he wouldn’t pull the ultimate wag the dog and launch if he felt he had no other option? I know I can’t bring myself to believe it.

I wish I’d saved the comment, but another Reddit user said Trump was like a big old elephant looking at the hyenas around him thinking “look how scared they are” while the hyenas are thinking “he’s getting older and weaker all the time, we just need to wait for the time to strike.”
