Stamina management is the most important thing about pvp.
The next thing is distance control.
1.) Dont use heavy armour ever. Thats only for thralls. If youre insisting on it for whatever reason then you need to be baiting your opponent into "trading" blows with you and for that you should be using a two handed weapon.
2.) Most people assume that the only armorer that matters is Shieldwright. This is false. Look up what each armorer does in the wiki. Shieldwright is what light armour requires.
Medium armour is fine with either shieldwright or scoutwright.
Medium is becoming more popular Ive noticed but people are making the mistake of putting bulked plating on it. This is a trap and is absolutely not worth the weight. 125 Armour for 15lbs is trash.
The formula for Damage Resistance is ARM / (ARM+500) =DR
500 arm = .5 DR
750 arm = .60 DR
1000 arm= .66DR
1400 arm= .74 DR

At the very bottom it will show you stamina regen versus armor class and encumberance level.
Putting all of this together means that for me, where I only put points into strength occaisonally, and no points into expertise...I use the weight reduction kits on all of my medium armour.
Im around 16lbs, for .60DR, and very comfortably in the green.
3.) Im not the best PvPer by any stretch but Im fairly confident in saying that maces are not a pvp weapon. The reach is shit and the damage isnt amazing either.
I tested this with a friend where all he tried to hit me and I could avoid his attacks by simply walking. No dodges.
They seem good if you use them in PvE but thats because npcs and bosses arent trying to avoid getting hi. Theyre a thrall weapon basically.
4.) Shields in PvP are a niche thing. I find they counter spears, daggers and throwing axes fairly well but the real reason I use them in PvP is to bait people into thinking Im a noob who doesnt know what he's doing.
I typically put the either the balanced weapon fitting or the fencers fitting on my weapons.
