Quebec Sets Plan to Bar Most Immigrants Who Don't Speak French

Not disagreeing on that point. Im proficient enough in the language after 3.5 years living here and it was always my intention to learn the language. But its not a simple issue of being lazy or not lazy. I have anglo friends who have lived here for 5/6 years who speak very little, and they will likely never have time because their lives are too complicated and difficult to properly set aside the time to learn. As adults who have the primary goal to basically survive, that gets in the way far more often than anything else in learning the language.

The support in learning the language from the govmnt has not been there either; Ive been lucky my job paid for lessons, but as a canadian moving to QC who had a full time job (and therefore not available during the day), I had actually 0 available resources from the govmnt to learn. Most people in MTL are bilingual too, and they will switch to english if you are difficult to deal with ahaha. The practice can be tough to find! Language learning as an adult is very hard.
