Queens and Michelle Visage reacting to JK Rowling transphobia.

It’s really hard, because as a kid those books meant something to me. I had a horrible time growing up with abusive parents, and HP gave me so much hope. I’d read and re-read them, escaping into that world. A world where even if my own family rejected me, I’d be accepted at Hogwarts. Now I find that people who matter to me, the T’s in LGBT+ wouldn’t be, that’s so fucking unacceptable. I don’t want to go to this world anymore. This place that I honestly feel saved my life. There were times as a kid where I was suicidal from the abuse, and I’d hide under my bed and read them.

Theres a quote from the books, by Hagrid/Hagrids Dad -

‘'Never be ashamed,' my ol' dad used ter say, 'there's some who'll hold it against you, but they're not worth botherin' with.’

To find out (although having suspected for a while, ngl) that it’s all bullshit genuinely fucking hurts. Someone who could write things as accepting and kind as that also having such disgusting opinions on who does and doesn’t get to be the person they are ... I’m sorry. I just feel so fucking let down.
