Quenneville Livid with the Call: "That's a F**king Joke"

Preach!

I'm going to say this in all honesty, for you, I hope the Habs get better.

I think the biggest problem though is, being a coach, GM, scout, etc in the NHL is all based on success, and owners of a team typically want to see a profit come from the team, which winning = more money = higher profit (if any) so it's hard for a team to implement a "lose now, win later" strategy as the entire organization needs to be on board, from owners down, right? I think we can all agree on that. Problem being, owners usually don't want to get on board, they'd rather see more money, even when it comes to organizations like the Habs and Leafs that make money hand over fist no matter what, just because of greed I guess? IDK.

Either way, I just wanted to say I never thought any sort of rebuild would happen and then BB came around, started one his way, was run out of town for whatever reason as GM, Nonis came in, had a whiff of success of a shortened season and I figure upper management of MLSE decided to try and capitalize on it and abandoned BB's plans for his rebuild and any sort of rebuild to try and win now, and it delayed MLSE another 5 years, but now the Leafs are here and I have faith again in the future.

So I guess what I'm getting at is, I don't think you should blame Therrien too much, I definitely don't blame Carlyle or Wilson, they were forced to try their best. They're put in a situation where they're told to win, and they look at LA and Chicago like the rest of us and go, "How..." I believe. The competitor in them though makes them try, and the fact that their job is on the line adds to it all, but deep down I think like you, they know it's like trying to take Mount Everest in a battle, and you're fighting up the entire way.

Anyway, point being, I agree with you and for you, I hope it all gets better because I agree with your logic, it is ok to lose, so long as there is a reason behind it. Being mediocre for the sake of squeezing in a couple more play off games a season and milking fans for all their worth isn't in my book and it sucks to see your team succeed, but know they can only succeed so much before your heart breaks watching them get destroyed by the true powerhouses in the league.
