A question

Allah says in Surah Al-An'am 6:151 - 153:

151: Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

152: And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

153: And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous.

Let me number them for you:

  1. Don't associate anything with Allah. That means not getting too indulged with the world to the point where you forget Allah, this includes your nafs or ego.
  2. Treat your parents well.
  3. Even if you're poor, don't kill or abandon your children.
  4. Don't approach immoralities. I think you would inherently know them, especially those that are 'concealed'.
  5. Don't kill innocent people.
  6. Use Reason.
  7. Take care of orphans if and when you interact with them.
  8. Be just and fair in all your dealings.
  9. Tell the truth even if it were going to testify against your own relatives.
  10. Fulfill your religious obligations like prayer, fasting, charity etc. A bit down the list in terms of order priority but still important.

We don't necessarily see it as strict rules, I would prefer to say what Allah says in Surah Al-Mutaffifin 83:26, "So for this let the competitors compete.". True Allah is the judge, he also mentions the rules - let's compete and earn Paradise by trying to follow it all, insha'Allah.
