I have a question

I didn’t hate high school and actually did well in it, but I was bored as all get out. (Actually graduated early to avoid staying there any longer than I had to.) College is much different. You get to do what you like to do (within reason ofc). College is stressful and demanding, don’t get me wrong, but you do get to learn things relevant to your interests and explore stuff. In high school (at least for me), you kind of just take classes because you have to and go through the motions of doing the work. College is more free. I had the option to graduate from college next semester (a full year early) and I told my advisor I absolutely was not going to (I’m really blessed multiple times over to be able to stay because I want to. I know a lot of people aren’t that lucky, so this is not intended to be a flex. It’s more my cards fell in such a way). And I’m so excited for my course load next semester (I’ve added a second major so all my classes will be for it, rather than my STEM primary major). To answer your question, people rant and complain about college a lot. I’m guilty myself. Sometimes you get stuck in the minutiae and the stress. And sometimes you get a jerk professor or a boring class. As with many things, people are more prone to tell you more about the negatives than the positives. But, in my experience, college is fun. You get to play around with stuff and learn for the sake of learning. If you’re not having at least some fun in your major (or some aspect of it doesn’t at least bring a spark into your eye), it’s probably not the major for you. (And I say this as someone who’s had their share of being chewed up by classes in their major).
