Question about 3rd party transports (example Seattle Fire / AMR)

DCFD does the same kind of thing, having AMR respond to their calls to transport stable patients so that FD units can go back in service from the scene instead of having to spend time transporting and in the ER. It’s basically just the latest addition to the long list of blatantly retarded bullshit FDs are willing to pull in order to keep employees on the payroll. The number of fires occurring in the city been dropping for decades while the number of EMS calls has been increasing, yet the DCFD refuses to shut down any firehouses or reduce its number of employees despite the lack of need for them. Instead of allowing the city to downsize the FD and redirect funds into EMS, DCFD took over EMS and cross trained a bunch of firefighters to justify their existence, but the problem was still that there aren’t enough ambulances in the city and call times and reliability were horrible. Now again the obvious solution is to get rid of a few fire trucks and firefighters and replace them with ambulances and medics, but the FD doesn’t want to do that for its own selfish reasons so their backwards solution is to have AMS transport all the bullshit for them. You’re probably saying “why not just give AMR a 911 contract to help with the call volume and cut out the middle man”, but that sets a bad president for the FD where people will start caring about serving the public more than serving it’s own internal interests.
