Question about child custody/access

BTDT. Hate to say it but yer fucked bud.

As much as you dont want to hear it, get a lawyer. You have the right to be involved with the kid. Your story is very similar to mine.

DR, is likely a dead end because I doubt he'll be allowed to share any info he has.

I wouldnt worry about finding her, she or rather the government, will be finding you, soon. Chances are she's going to name you as the father and if shes on welfare theyre going to be coming after you on her behalf. You'll find out soon enough. Part of that will be paternity testing.

I was never in an adversarial relationship in the sense I was tracking her, it was her who came after me. Dna tests were done on me (swabs) and the results showed the kid was mine. Only thing left was to go to court and figure out what this was going to cost me. An open and shut case. You should have the same rights, via a lawyer, to order a DNA test on the child, to determine paternity.

You should also know, that unless she's an unmitigated disaster as a parent, she'll likely have custody and 99% of the decision making in raising the child. It aint right and it sucks as a man, believe me. Mine certainly wasnt raised the way Id like, but, I had little to no say. All I did was pay and she pissed it away, not on my kid either.

Again, best first step is lawyer up. If you cant afford it, legal aid might help.
