A question about Neil Gaiman's writing style

Gaiman's writing style is rather sophisticated. But with his Norse book he does take a different path. The book to me (this isn't a complaint) felt more like introductory lesson than otherwise an depth, detailed piece.

The book also seems to be for all ages, so him getting into nitty gritty of old Norse probably wouldn't bode well. Norse has a very weird mix comedy and tragedy. You seriously could get the most heartwarming thing in the world and next few sentences you torture and and death. So I think Gaiman just choose his words carefully.

But despite it all, it is an enjoyable read. I found it well constructed and you get a good sense of what old Norse is versus, say, Greek or Egyptian.
