Question about new violin setup, soundpost, replacing Dominants with lower-tension strings

Thank you both for your help. I have listened to the recordings that dounis42 posted, and recordings of some other players who are known to use Dominants. Honestly, I don't love the sound of any of them. There's a bit too much edge/bite on the sound for my liking - I like a smoother, rounder sound. But having played Dominants for a few days, I like that they're lower tension than my usual Evah Pirazzis, and they're easier under the fingers. Since the luthier put new strings on my instrument, I haven't yet heard it with the Dominants broken in, so I'll let them break in and evaluate the sound from there. Based on the recordings I've heard with Dominants, I think I might want to darken the sound a bit, but we'll see.
