Question about runes for Thresh

Nasus was the first champion that I learned to play at an extremely high level, so I'll run through the works of how to play him here.

  • Runes: I go CDR blues and quints, hybrid pen marks, and armor or health seals. The CDR is a must on Nasus. Laning is much more brutal without them.

  • Masteries: Right now I usually go 0/18/12, making sure to get the 5% CDR mastery and Thunderlords Decree. I think Stormraider's Surge is also viable.

  • Skill Order R<Q<E<W. I often take my first point in E at level 4. The first 4 levels usually go Q-W-Q-E.

  • Ah, Siphoning Strike. No other ability allows you to sit and farm for 20 minutes and then absolutely destroy everyone. If you fail to stack this, most of the time you will feed and/or your team will throw. Levels 1-6, focus on staying back and stacking this.

  • W is the highest slow in the game. If they push against you and your jungler comes to gank, 9 times out of 10 they will die or use summoner spells. Additionally, you can use this against melee who are harrassing you. W is your either your "Get the fuck off me" spell or your "Which do you value more, flash or your life?" spell.

  • Please, please, please, for the love of god, DO NOT throw your E out randomly into the wave. This pushes the wave, making it harder for you to stack.

  • Your R is an amazing ability as it gives you some bonus AD, longer range on your Q, and, the most important part, HP. If you get dove by the jungler and/or laner, this can often give you the stats you need to turn the fight 1v2. Use it wisely. I most often use it to bait out fights/dives that the enemy can't win.

  • Items: Generally you want to itemize for your lane opponent. VS. an AD opponent, go Cloth + 4, rush Glacial Shroud, and build Frozen Heart. VS. an AP opponent, start Ruby Crystal + 2, rush Specter's Cowl, and build Spirit Visage. Your second item should be Triforce. After that, itemize according to the enemy. Dead Mans Plate, Banshees, Randuins, and Warmogs are all viable. Some people have success by building Glacial Shroud/Cowl, getting Sheen for 45% CDR, and then finishing their defense item. Do what works for you.

  • Early levels are difficult for Nasus. Stay back and farm. Try not to fight if you are below 6 and have no jungler help.

  • In an extremely hard lane, you should aim for 100 stacks by 10 min. That is the absolute minimum.

  • By around 15-20 minutes, you should enough items to be able to solo kill your lane opponent, or at least chunk them down to the point where they need help. Try to kill the 1st turret and apply pressure on the 2nd. Ward the river during this time. I can't stress this enough. People will come for you. Unless they are the same type as your lane opponent (AD/AP depending on who you built for), don't fight them.

  • One thing that can hurt the enemy a lot is counterjungling them. Your Q is like a 3 second smite, so go ham and stack those camps. Try to take their closest buff if you can.

  • In teamfights, try to isolate a carry/peel for ADC. If given a choice of going for either the enemy mid laner or the enemy ADC, go for the ADC, purely because your W also slows attack speed. You essentially can cripple a carry.

Sirhcez is a Nasus GOD. He streams quite late, but you can watch the VODs if you prefer.

Hope this helped you!
