Question for people with MMA experience: How much does constantly blocking punches affect your arms in a fight and does it ever become a problem?

You're right, it's not sound defense. It doesn't really fit the comment I responded to perfectly. Plus it was with someone not as professional by any means. But a lot of that was because they hated being kicked and it is instinct.

Not everyone is used to blocking kicks. Not everyone reacts the same. I was lucky enough to be able to train with all sorts of people in large rotations. Sometimes people just do bad things.

Wrestling, instincts is to shoot. They are bent and angled forward already.

That's the main thing I was thinking of when I commented that. I remember a guy wanting to shoot under my friends kick. Friend releases the chamber late and will bring his knee up from the center and pivots ala question mark. He probably thought he was going to go under and catch him off balance (or something, people are just crazy). But he went into a knee.

A lot of people didn't know how to react to my friend's kicks. He was really amazing at taekwondo and transitioned into kickboxing. People get tired and make weird reads on him a lot.
