Question for Pittsburgh regarding the upcoming restaurant shutdown.

I’m sorry, of all the things you can complain about with how the US has handled the pandemic the unemployment benefits is not one of them. We did do something like Canada’s $2000/month for unemployment, we gave an ADDITIONAL $600/week to people on unemployment which is the equivalent of $2400/month. This is ON TOP of what people’s original unemployment would be.

I agree with everything that’s being said surrounding businesses, and I’m also aware lots of people weren’t technically on unemployment but lost wages due to working in fields that generate income through utilization. But people need to stop going around using the Canadian unemployment benefit as some gold standard when, in fact, it wasn’t better than ours.
