Question. We hear alot about Channish and Luish behavior stemming from bullying from non-Asian kids or Tiger Parenting. But, any of you developed those attitudes, or know somebody who did, simply because you or they did not fit in with the other Asian kids at school?

I don't think that counts as a reason, though. There are tons of Asians who apply the same rationale as you, but in reverse, e.g. "I grew up around mostly whites, so it's natural for me to have more in common with white people and to not fit in with Asian people." The real "reason" for your aversion is that we're encouraged by the dominant culture to buy into racialized narratives and interpret group behavior accordingly. Have you asked yourself, how is it that you grew up around Asian jocks, nerds, skaters, outcasts, etc, and somehow found NONE of them relatable and put all of them in the same category, "those Asian people I have nothing in common with?" Were there no street-wise or working-class Asians? Do all Mexicans everywhere have a certain energy or way of being that Asian people don't have and can't have?
