[QUESTION] How do I achieve an FPS dodge/strafe mechanic?

Controller sensors are my enemy (or at least when I messed with it). My guess is you would have a simple wire from the X button to a node (I do this for organization purposes) in your microchip, so you can wire it anywhere in that microchip you need to detect the X button.

I would also have a wire from the L analogue stick to a splitter, to get up/down direction and left/right direction. I wouldn't know which analogue stick to use, though. And from the splitter I would wire each output to 2 calculators, so 4 total, and each checks if the value from the analogue stick is above or below a threshold (so the player has to be serious about the direction they want to go). Those would trigger timelines with movers and animations in them. I can't come up with more details than that at the moment; I am procrastinating my homework which I must return to.
