[QUESTION] I own these two guitars and am trying to learn more about the what makes guitars unique and was hoping I could get some insight about how these two compare in tone/quality etc. thanks!

It's so context dependent. For a "guitar with a vintage humbucker" vibe, I'd be ok with playing either, I think a fair amount of the differences may melt away in a live situation. If we want to split hairs, I'd probably pick the SG for leads (the maple/ebony neck is going to emphasize that SG bite a little more) because of the scale length for bends, I prefer the slim taper neck over Fender's C shape all day every day.

I'd go tele for rhythm. While I can't determine for the specs on paper if it'd be a rounder sounding guitar (smoother transients because of the mass, tonewoods, etc), I'd like having the coil taps for rhythm work. I might also restring the Tele for some drop-tune stuff.

Overall I'm biased towards SG's. Dad owns a '73 Standard from his days in the Boston rock scene, I own a 2001 SG Special. Even when I compare it to my Les Paul, it's just more bite overall on the SG. It's nice for a band situation.
