A question to people who left, on a brink of leaving or question Destiny

I left with nothing but apathy. I had a good time early on, and generally throughout, but I think my problem has stemmed from the tone-deaf mistakes in recent months (and the lack of anything new didn't help). Crucible, which could keep me coming back, has gotten worse over time. They've oversold and underwhelmed repeatedly. There's no point getting into the misinformation/bad information debacle.

And I really don't buy the 'Content is incredibly hard to create with our design tools.' They've reused the same 10 assets hundreds of times. Shit, Taniks is 75% of the bosses. I find it hard to believe they couldn't throw a Dead Orbit skin on The Villainy or have Righteous VII show up in FWC's inventory. A nice red and white Hung Jury. Reskin, rename, and rotate vendor gear with new perks. That alone would keep things interesting. Let me apply weapon shaders to Gunsmith gear. Imagine how many people would grind for a god-rolled RNG vendor weapon that will disappear in a week.

Now Bungie has all but abandoned the game, which would be fine if this were sold as a roughly-annual franchise, but this was sold as a living, evolving experience. I played the newest Tomb Raider and just loved it. I left with nothing but positive feelings and would buy the next in a heartbeat. Destiny? I won't buy the next one because I can almost guarantee this will happen there. 'Hey everybody, we've learned and we mapped out the content until Destiny 3.' Then some new engine or tech comes out and they think 'Man, this current setup doesn't do this justice. Let's push it back so players can really experience it how it was meant to be played.' Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

I come here to see if there's anything new, what the Gunsmith is selling, for the salt, and to see how piss-poor of an event something is after a lot of build up, like Crimson Doubles. I'm sure it's fun on its own, but goddamn if the Weekly Update didn't sell it like it was the second coming that required massive resources. 'We'll give you more info on new content once we see this event through.' It's my fault for making assumptions that there would be more than some clipart roses and the sewer ghost, I guess.

I've got The Division and Dark Souls III coming out in the next couple months so the reasons to play Destiny dwindle every day and every week. Bungie is the decoder ring in 'The Christmas Story'. All this build-up and anticipation and they just want to sell you more of the same. 'But stay tuned! More to follow!'
