Question regarding producers...

Haha:) Could probably write a book about what "tools" you should learn, but here are some:

  • Stick with 1 plugin when creating sounds and get really good at using that plugin! There is no point in trying out every kind of plugin. A lot of good plugins out there, but I would highly recommend Serum.

  • Study mixing. Learn the basics like for example EQ, compression, reverb, understaning stereo image and so on. Quick tip: no point in overdoing effects. EQ and controlling volume is the most important if you want a smooth mix. Effect plugins in the program you use will be good enough for starting out.

  • You probably know this, but learn to understand chords. Music theory is in my opinion not very important. Just build up a huge musical network in your brain. If you play an instrument that is very good.

  • Build up a nice sample libary.

Workflow is extremly important when being creative. This will naturaly come when you get good at using your tools

Have this "tools" in focus when starting and you will probably get good faster than I did. You should also know that there is almost never a correct answer to how you should do things. In the end you are the most useful tool:) Love what you do and you will get good at it!

I don't know your skill level so if you have any more questions just ask!
