Question Thread - March 02, 2019

Alright, I'm breaking out a throwaway for this because I feel stupid.

I've just been approved for the SW Business and SW Personal and will easily obtain the minimum spending requirements as soon as my cards arrive.

Credit score is 780+

Starting this journey at 0/24 prior to these two approvals.

The problem? Starting this churning process has triggered my anxiety symptoms. I need to abandon ship because I know by now not to do things that cause this anxiety.

Could someone help me understand the best path forward?

Do I:

  1. Spend the minimum requirement, obtain companion pass, and immediately cancel both cards? (Is cancelling within the first month something I can do?!)
  2. Spend the minimum requirement, obtain companion pass, and hold the cards until the annual fee is due in one year... then cancel before that charge hits?
  3. Spend the minimum requirement, obtain companion pass, and try to forget about the cards until they go inactive?

I understand these are each options (and maybe I'm missing some). My gut response is to go with option 1 but that is driven by anxiety.

I'm looking for a compassionate answer to how to best abandon ship without causing an impact to my credit score. Unfortunately, due to health concerns, churning is not for me.

Thank you for your help.
