I want to quit my job

Let's Go over what you just said. You work 5hrs a day and you can't find the time to learn to program because "you're tired".

I'm assuming you don't know any program currently.

So this may come off as harsh or rude, but you need a wake up call if you think you're ready.

I don't know how you expect to quit your job and instantly know how to program or how to find the time to learn. You might say that "well if I quit, then I would have to learn. I'd be motivated to learn so I can start making money". But the reality is you're lying to yourself if you think that's all it will take.

Making money from building websites is not easy. It is not something you can learn in a few weeks. It's not something that you can spend just 5hrs a day on and expect solid results (unless you want to wait 20 years doing that).

I don't think you're ready to quit your job right now. If I were you, I would first get over the belief that this is a short, easy path and all you need to do is just quit your job and start having money roll in.

While you have the safety net and income from your normal job, start learning how to program. Don't burn yourself out by doing 12hr days everyday, but you're going to need to put in a lot of work if you want to be successful. You will not get to the point you want by putting a few hours in here and there. You need sustained dedication and hard work over a long period of time.

Start by seeing if you can spend 1 full hour learning how to program each day after work. Simply reading tutorials, blog posts, Reddit etc does not count. You need to have a text editor open and actually typing out lines of code, making mistakes and pushing past all of those mistakes.

Once you are able to dedicate a solid hour a day to programming, bump it up to two full hours. Then three. Now you're working a typical 8 hr day and this is when you really start pushing yourself to get what you want. When I first started, I would work 8hrs at one job and come home and spend another 3 (if not more) hours programming.

After you get to the point when you have dedicated yourself to programming, and you have actually done it, not just saying "oh I'll do it I know I will!" That's when you can START thinking about quitting your job. But do not quit until you can do more than 5hr days.

Before I quit my job to work for myself full time, I was already making good money on the side and knew what I was doing from years of practice. I also had a few potential clients lined up for when work for my first client finished. It hasn't been easy at all. It is one of the hardest things I've ever done and there are multiple times I considered quitting to go back to a normal job, but I force myself to push past them. On multiple occasions, I couldn't afford food and had to go hungry for a week or two. It definitely sucked and I'm still not making tons of money.

I'm not trying to scare you or dissuade you from pursing that path, it's very rewarding at times, but you need to realize that it takes a lot of work and dedication. Saying "I'm tired, I'll just play video games instead" will not cut it.
