Quote about men from Brene Brown's book Daring Greatly

I think we overestimate evolutionary tendencies. They are the foundational fabric of our behaviour, however, only to an extent that doesn’t dictate over habit and ideology. The primal irrational part of humans, I believe, is merely a raw energy, the will-to-live, that is directed without a master, but the job of the intellect is to rein them. I don’t suppose, even whilst having a wife, men can resist their sexual urge towards younger women, can they? However, there is always the counteracting force to our Id. The superego. The grand purpose that guides our mind towards the light. That’s why Christianity and many other ideologies are effective in controlling behaviour. Without a superego, we’re lost to this nihilistic drivel of existence.
