/r/audiophile Purchase Help Thread (2018-01-27)

I'm a touring musician, engineer and composer for games, film and television and am looking for a simple, easy to use portable audio player that can play reference WAV files. I use a Crane Song Solaris DAC for both monitoring and pitching to my analog chain and a Burl B2 ADC to capture it so I'm familiar with converters but portable audio is completely foreign to me.

Referencing audio outside of my studio via my iPhone is a complete pain in the ass so I'm just looking for something that I can drag and drop WAV files onto directly or via SD card. Audio quality is important but I really don't care about or need fancy high-res touch screens, EQs, visualizations, or literally any feature other than the ability to navigate a folder of WAV files and play them.

Something simple under $500 would be fantastic but if there is a big improvement in the DACs I'm willing to go up to $1,000. Thanks for any help!
