TL;DR : any recommendations for a shielded 6.35mm (male and male) cable, at least 3 feet, no more than 25, preferably 20 USD or so and definitely under 50, for a jack that tends to hum when connected to anything I already have?

I got an Edison P2500 (Party System 2500) thing off clearance, and I quite like it, but I'm getting a hum when I plug a line into the line-in mic port (6.35mm jacks that say mic 1 and mic 2). Unplugged everything and started bit by bit - was getting some noise from having it on the outlet so I plugged into a power strip and that went away, plug a 6.35mm cord that's not hooked up to a mic in tho and get that hum, plug in the mic and it gets a bit quieter, but doesn't go away. Turning the volume up and down doesn't make it louder, neither does turning up the mic volume, moving the box all the way to the middle of the room or anywhere else doesn't change it: No noise with no 6.35mm plugged in, and one of those low hum/buzz sounds when you hook up the cord and/or mic.

So, question: Is there some kind of shielded cord I should try? Should I just buy a guitar cord off amazon?

I tried the little 3 foot 6.35mm to 6.25mm cord that came with the wireless microphone reciever, with an without plugging in the actual receiver. I tried a microphone (which is decades old and was probably around 40 USD back then) which doesn't detach from it's cord, and I tried just plugging in that usb to 6.35mm cable that came with . . .Rocksmith it was called I think? For hooking a guitar to console or pc playing that game?

Granted, I could just keep the volume louder than the hum to get around this I guess, but I kinda don't want it that loud.

Oh, and I tried playing music from an SD card, from the built-in radio, and from BT, as well as not playing anything at all. Same hum regardless, all that matters is whether there's something plugged into either of the mic inputs.
