Rather than a receiver, look at integrated amplifiers. It’s the same, minus the tuner. They often have a DAC. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 watts will usually do. Musical Fidelity M3si or M5si, for example. Many people can do with less, especially in smaller rooms. See Cambridge CXA61 and CXA81, for example. With this budget I could maybe see spending as much as $3,000 on the amp, but $2,000 might be closer. That leaves somewhere around $5,000-7,000 for speakers. It’s hard to predict will appeal to you. Maybe set aside $2,000 for a subwoofer if you want, and look at speakers around $5,000. Revel F208 is a good example where a sub would be optional.
