R/Cars, what do you appreciate most in modern automotive journalism?

Hey,

I've got a car blog that I'd like to think could be considered a cut above the usual lazy posts. I spoke about it here, and was really just talking to that sub (as they get what I'm doing there already).

But if you wanted to try your hand at blogging without having to go build your own site (and stand out from the thousands of other people having go), we can talk about a guest post you feel strongly about creating.

I'm no journalist, just a photographer having fun at producing a car blog worth reading. Focuses on rare and little-known cars a lot of the time, stuff that doesn't get covered by the press in the states.

Now I'm no expert. I mean I was blown away to have the response that I did. Connections made through the blog led to me booking jobs as a photographer that I could only dream of a year ago. Shooting one of my dream cars on Saturday in Milan - a Fiat 131 Abarth. So I can't promise you anything, but I have really found that it is just valuable to have somewhere for people to find whatever it is that you create.

I don't know if you can already write in an intelligent and entertaining way, but to have any chance of doing that long-term, you really need to ask yourself what you want to see produced. If you're not intrinsically motivated by your posts, you will end up resenting what is now a passion. If you want to listen to someone explain why, I found this Tim Ferris podcast to be worth listening to:
