I agree with everything except this part. The LGBTQ community is inherently deviant from what's normal (in the literal sense of 'normal'). It doesn't make sense to label everyone with narrow understandings of the community a bigot when most of them don't participate in the culture enough to understand the nuance. Up until the big push started for trans visibility it was totally a movement primarily about sexuality as far as the mainstream media was concerned. It's like labelling someone anti-semetic because they think every practicing Jew is religious, sure they're wrong but it's hard to blame them for not knowing.
