/r/europe is looking for new moderators - apply here!

How often do you visit /r/europe?

At least 5 times per day.

What country are you normally resident in?

UK.

Do you speak any languages besides English? (If yes: which and to what level?)

No.

What interests you about Europe?

Cultural diversity, European identity I'm pretty ambivalent.

What are your favourite and least favourite things about /r/europe?

Personal accounts of local news and opinions, like the "What happened in your country this week?" thread, before it kinda died out.

Do you have experience as a moderator or similar?

Not on Reddit, but on the Internet, sure, going back a decade.

Why do you want to be a moderator?

Because you guys have been getting battered hard by negative sentiment since becoming a default sub, including by people like me. Notiving /u/Raerth recently reemerge from obscurity to annouce rule changes gave me a lot of hope for the future of the sub, despite it's tribulations. I'd love to help enforce whatever policies Raerth supports, since live here was very good when he was the sole mod.

I'm willing to help out creating/maintaining any bots useful to the moderation team, although I detest bots that actively post to the site so I won't help with any of those.

why do you think you would be a good moderator?

I'm mostly indifferent to politics, enjoy hearing (and supporting) contrarian opinions when I see them, generally don't get sucked up by the mass hysterias that hit popular media on a daily basis. I'm old enough (30) to avoid most kinds of youthful compulsions, so that's another plus.

do you have any expirence with statistics, datamining or reddit bots?

Some, yes, and yes. I've previously contributed >10GB Reddit comment dumps to /r/datasets.

What is your opinion on the immigration megathread? What do you think went wrong (if anything)?

I understand the intention of the thread, but the approach IMHO was flawed, as it ran counter to how the site is supposed to work. Given my lack of experience moderating a sub, this might be a bad opinion, since I don't fully appreciate how difficult it is to protect against brigading.

What's one weakness you have?

I take too much enjoyment in arguing unpopular perspectives, simply because most people will disagree.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or one hundred duck sized horses?

Neither, it's a pointless question.

What single word connects all of these three of the following words: Europe, Pussy Cat, Teacher? Explain why

This is another pointless question.
