Hi everyone. I'm a new indie developer looking to establish a small game studio, but as you know budgets are usually tight for newcomers. Anyhow, I'll spare the details, I'm creating a Point & Click game based on Salad Fingers (hopefully you've heard of it; if not see the last episode here). I actually reached out to David Firth, the creator of Salad Fingers, and pitched him the idea for the game. I was met with a mildly interested response, but he basically said he was too busy to assist with anything. He approved me making a game with a royalty stipulation, but gave me the impression that he doesn't want anything to do with it due to other priorities. On a positive note he did send me some of his Flash asset libraries to work with.

I'm to the point now where I've nearly completed the first chapter/act of the game, however I'm at a moot point and I'm unsure if I should release the game in its current state. My target is the mobile space (iOS/Android) and PC (maybe Steam if it gets green lighted). I'm trying to make the game look as professional as possible on a tight budget, but don't want to shoot myself in the foot by releasing something that's subpar. I was a Computer Scientist for over 10 years at my last job, so I have the programming covered, but I've been doing most of the artwork as well (I think I have some skills, but consider myself amateurish). Here's the promo video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BlsI_RFqCg . I reused much of Firth's artwork, however, I tried to mimic Firth's art style as best as possible on things I didn't have. I think I have something that's respectable, however it could just be tunnel vision :/. Reddit is usually great at setting people straight, though it can feel like a kick in the crotch at times :). Anyhow, I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you can provide including UI design, Graphics, etc.. Keep in mind the video shows a beta release and I'm aware that some resolutions for some of the objects need to be increased. I'm willing to invest in a good artist, but if the majority thinks it's fine as it is, then I'll go ahead and release it. Thanks for your time.
