What have you been playing?

Finally cracked open Shadow of Mordor that I’ve had ever since the Black Friday craze. At first I really didn’t much care for it. Something about it just rubbed me the wrong way and I found myself absolutely hating the camera and how close in it seemed. Plus, I absolutely did not care about anything in the story. Came back to it on Sunday though and put a little more time into it. Finally started getting my bearings in terms of the different systems and am enjoying it a lot more now. Still don’t care about anything going on in the story though but the combat is fun enough that I think I’ll get past it.

I also was playing Burnout Paradise on my 360 and that game is still a blast. Unfortunately, my 360 died on me yesterday but it’s under warranty (bought it pre-owned) so I just have to make the hour and a half drive to the nearest Best Buy to get it sorted out. Still, it was a bummer. Admittedly, the bigger bummer is the fact that there isn’t anyone online in Paradise anymore but that’s pretty much what I expected.

What Giant Bomb content have you been consuming?

I finally took the plunge this weekend and signed up for a premium account so I’ve been sampling some of the things that I’ve been thus far unable to watch. Mostly that means watching some of the Demo Derby videos that I’ve heard so much about and holy hell were they worth every penny I paid. I was a longtime subscriber to OXM back in the day and seeing those disc menus again was a huge nostalgia blast. Same with seeing the OG Xbox menu.

Also took a gander at the Puyo Puyo Tetris UPF which has me considering importing something for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, finances are not in a position where that would be a smart decision but this wouldn’t be the first time I’ve laughed in the face of prudence.
