The past years I have used Sennheisers HD 25 and Koss Porta Pro as my daily drivers. Unfortunately both are now broken and therefore I am on the hunt for a new pair.
What I want is a pair of well built, good sounding, portable headphones. It would be great if they had a decent mirophone. I use them mainly for commuting and studying. I feel like I have examined the whole wireless market and cannot be satisfied with any product which is why I gave up looking for any bluetooth device. Bowers & Wilkins PX5 have good sound but a shitty mic. Sennheiser PXC 550 II sound good but are too big for what I want and have somehow inconvenient features (turning off procedure). Sony wh-1000xm4 are too big and I really dont like their sound. Noise cancelling is probably a nice feature but the isolation of the Sennheiser 25 was enough for my needs. I would buy them again if they would not have such annoying cable noise.
Do you guys have any ideas for headphones that satisfy my following demands?
good, neutral sound

  • high amount of sound isolation
  • little as possible cable noise
  • good microphone
  • good portability (on ear or discreet over ear. I have quite small ears which is why some on ears even cover the, completely)
  • well built and sturdy (I am too careless for fragile designer products)

My budget would be up to 300 euros. Currently I am considering the ATH M50X from Audio-Technica. As they might still be a little too big, I am hoping for your suggestions.
