I've never used a mechanical keyboard and I'm on the hunt for a split ergonomic keyboard. I mostly work in data analysis and SQL coding, and a lot of Excel work. The biggest issue is that I have clubbed thumbs (toe thumb like Megan Fox), short fingers, and smaller female hands, which makes finding the perfect keyboard more challenging.

My favorite tactile feeling from a keyboard is from my Thinkpad X1, as it fits my hands really well and it isn't too "mushy". I currently use a Perixx Periboard 512 (feels a tad big and a bit too clacky/loud for conference calls) and a Microsoft NaturalErgonomic 4000 (hate the mushy feeling and I have to extend my hands all the time as it's also a bit big).

I'm still learning a lot of the terms - right now I'm debating between a Dactyl and the Moonlander (want to see more reviews). However, if I am having issues with the Perixx keys, should I try to get low-profile keys like my Thinkpad?
