It's the /r/melbourne random discussion thread [Monday 22/06/2020]

FB marketplace frustrates me so much. I made an offer ($20) for something due to it's age since it's over 10 years old.

Them: No [to the offer] since "Others sell this [similar product] for well more than what I'm asking ($50)".

Me: I tell him I did a searched and that's not true.

Them: show me.

Me: I send screenshots, one including a similar product 1/3 the age selling for $30 which was listed over a week ago [Meaning it's not selling]

Them: That other product ($30) retails for $60 new. Mine was double that to buy.

Me: I told him there's retailed for $55 new and sent him a link.

Them: They offered $40, told me I could go to the other side of town to get the other one and said 'Don't try to haggle or reply anymore unless you accept that offer.'

I wanted to say: Yours has 7 MORE YEARS of use, I offered $20 based on it's AGE because it's so old and has no warranty. You could have declined the offer but you started saying demonstratively not true stuff and when pointed out couldn't back up your claims.

I knew where it was going so I just deleted the chat.
