/r/movies Oscars 2023: Official Post-Game Thread

Random Thoughts -

Kimmel did ok. The first 1/4th of his monologue about the Fabelmans was an awkward fail, rest was pretty good. The Matt Damon jokes never get old.

Everything with Cocaine Bear was just awful and embarrassing.

Happy for Michelle Yeoh but anyone who saw Tar knows Cate Blanchett gave the best performance of the year.

Congrats to Jamie Lee Curtis on winning the Cecil B Demile career achievement award.

I literally can't believe Short Round won an Academy Award before Indiana Jones.

Ke Huy Quan won an Oscar, AND got to hug Harrision Ford on national television the same night. This is how you win against a mid-life crisis people.

Avatar had no business being nominated for best picture, especially with Del Toro's Pinnochio not getting the nod.

It doesn't matter if the Oscars run 2, 3 or 4 hours, or what categories are presented. The ratings will always go down because literally half the country thinks its liberal propaganda, and as for the rest of us, the media consumption audience is just way too fragmented nowadays.

John Williams should easily be a 10-15 time Oscar winner. Like EASILY.

Probably alone but I'm pretty bummed Fablemans was shut out. I thought it was excellent, Spielberg's best since Saving Private Ryan.

Look, I liked EEAAO, but the hot dog fingers were a bit much, ngl.

Anyone else kinda bummed Travolta didn't introduce Lenny Kravitz as Adele Dazeem?

Would have appreciated a cameo from either Chris Rock, Alfonso Riberio, or DJ Jazzy Jeff. Just sayin'.

Once again, Netflix's best chance at a coveted Best Picture Oscar falls short, but was still probably the 2nd or 3rd most likely winner amongst all the nominees.
